Using the Product Line Updater

The Product Line Updater allows you to update the products in your Millennium database with the latest information released by the manufacturer.  This saves you from having to update product records manually and prevents costly errors on purchase orders caused by incorrect information.

Notes:

• You can only use the Product Line Updater for the manufacturers listed in the Product Line field on the Manufacturers window.

• Manufacturers release product updates regularly so you should check for updates at least once a week.

• Before you run the Product Line Updater for the first time, you should create a training version of Millennium and test the Product Line Updater in that version first.  This allows you to discover any potential data issues without affecting the integrity of the product data in your live database.

• Configuring the Product Line Updater

  1. Select Data > Company Information > Manufacturers.

  The Manufacturers window displays.

  2. Click Edit.
  3. Click in the Product Line field to view the list of manufacturers that support the Product Line Updater.
  4. Note the list of supported manufacturers.
  5. Click Cancel.
  6. Click the Manufacturer Listing tab.
  7. Select a supported manufacturer and click the Maintenance tab.
  8. Click Edit.
  9. Select the supported manufacturer in the Product Line field.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Repeat Steps 6-10 for the other supported manufacturers whose products you stock.

   

• Running the Product Line Updater

  1. Select Data > Company Information > Manufacturers.

  The Manufacturers window displays.

  2. Click the Manufacturer Listing tab.
  3. Select a supported manufacturer and click the Maintenance tab.
  4. Click Product Line Updater.

  The Product Line Updater window displays with a list of new products.

  5. Deselect the new products you do not want to add to the Millennium database.
  6. Click Add Products.

  The No Products to Update message displays.

  7. Click the Discontinue tab.

  A list of discontinued products displays.

  8. Deselect the products you do not want to mark discontinued.
  9. Click Discontinue Products.

  The No Products to Update message displays.

  10. Click the Price Change tab.

  A list of products with new pricing displays.

  11. Deselect the products you do not want to update with the latest pricing.
  12. Click Update Prices.

  The No Products to Update message displays.

  13. Click  X .

  The product update process is complete.
