Defining a Coupon

The Coupons-Discounts window allows you to define the coupons you send to clients.  Once you define a coupon, you can apply the associated discount to a transaction on the Register and track the number of coupons used.


  1. Select Data > Coupons/Discounts.

The Coupons-Discounts window displays.

  1. Click New.

  2. Complete the following:

  1. In the Discount Code field, type an identifying code for the coupon.

Tip:  You can include this code in advertisements and marketing materials if you want to require that clients recite the code during ring up to receive the discount on the coupon.

  1. In the Description field, type a name for the coupon.

  1. Complete the following as necessary:

  1. In the Expiration field, select an expiration date for the coupon.

  2. Select Default to Full Commission to pay employees commission on the full price of the items discounted.  Deselect if you want to pay commission on the discounted price.

  3. In the Maximum Number of Client Usages field, select the maximum number of times that each client can use the coupon, or select "0" to allow unlimited usage.

  1. Move to the Discount tab and complete the following:
  1. In the Redeem towards field, select one of the following options:

  1. In the Discount Type field, select one of the following options:

  1. Select Round to nearest number to round prices to the nearest whole number when you apply the coupon on the Register.

  2. In the Distributed field, type the quantity of the coupon that you intend to distribute.

Tip:  This feature allows you to track the number of coupons actually used.  If you are going to include the coupon in a newsletter or promotional email, type the number of newsletters/emails that you intend to send out.

  1. (Optional) Click the Instructions/Info tab and type directions on how to use the coupon.

Tip:  The directions display when you apply the coupon to a transaction on the Register

  1. Click Save.
