Deactivating a Product

If you are going to stop selling a product or the manufacturer discontinues a product, you should deactivate the product.  This allows you to keep the sales history for the product and gives you the flexibility to reactivate the product in the future.

Important:  When you deactivate a product, you cannot add the product to purchase orders or ring up the product.

  1. Select Data > Products > Product Definitions.

The Product Definitions window displays.

  1. Click the Listing tab.
  2. Select the product and click the Maintenance tab.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Select Discontinued.
  5. Click Save.
