Security

Keeping your Millennium data secure is very important both while in Millennium itself and while accessing the data remotely.

Login Data

Prior to making any calls to a Millennium SDK method, you must first logon with a login ID and password.  You can logon by calling the Logon method of the Millennium SDK Web Service and passing it a valid Millennium login ID and a password.  The Logon method will return true if the login credentials are valid and return an error if they are invalid.

The logon method also returns a SOAP Header that contains the Session Id used for all subsequent calls to the Millennium SDK Web Service.  This session expires after the specified time of inactivity.  The default value is 20 minutes.

Each request to the Millennium SDK must send the Millennium GUID information along with the request.  If this data is missing or incorrect, Millennium SDK will not process the request.  The SOAP Header includes the Millennium GUID information so you only need to set up the SOAP Header once, since each subsequent call will use the existing SOAP Header and send this Information to the Central Office SDK.

Millennium GUID

Every installed instance of the Millennium SDK has a unique Globally Unique Identifier (GUID).

User Login and Password

Anyone who wishes to access a Millennium SDK Web Service must have a user login in the Millennium database.  The user login gives access to the functions you allow the Millennium SDK to access.

Encrypting Communications

If you want to make the Millennium SDK Web Service available over the Internet, no special setup or programming is necessary.  However, you should use HTTPS (secure HTTP using SSL, the Secure Socket Layer) for the communication if you are not using the Encrypt Extension.
