2.5 - Configure Security Settings

The next step is to define security groups and set permissions for each group so that employees can access Central Office.

Note:  You must complete this step on the server where you have the Central Office database located.


  1. Open a web browser and access http://localhost/millenniumco.

The Central Office Login page displays.

  1. Type the login credentials for the administrator account and press Enter.
  2. Complete the following to define each security group:
  1. Select Security > Security Groups.

The Security Groups page displays.

  1. Click New.

  2. Click >> to select all locations.

  3. (Optional) Select This group can only be assigned by Administrators if you only want members of the Administrators security group to have the ability to assign users to this group.

  4. In the Group Name field, type a name for the security group.

Examples:  "CO Accounting" or "CO Inventory".

  1. Select the users to include in the group.

  2. Click Save.

  1. Complete the following to set permissions for each group:
  1. Select Security > Security Administration.

The Security Administration page displays.

  1. Click New.

  2. Select "Central Office" and then click >.

  3. In the Main Topic and Sub Topic fields, select the type of features for which to set permissions.

  4. In the Specific field, select the feature for which to set permissions.

  5. Click Edit.

  6. Select Allow next to the security groups that need access to the feature.

  7. Click Save.

  8. Repeat Steps d-h to set permissions for additional features.
