1.4 - Install IIS

The next step is to install and configure the Internet Information Services (IIS) component in Windows.

Notes:  

• You must install the IIS component on the server where you installed SQL Server and on every server where you have a Millennium database located.
• If you already have the IIS component installed, do not skip this step as you must configure the IIS component to work with Central Office.

• You must access Windows with an administrator account to complete this step.

• Windows Server 2003 / Windows Small Business Server 2003 (32-bit)

  1. Select one of the following options:

  • If you do not have the IIS component installed, proceed to Step 2.

  • If you have the IIS component installed, proceed to Step 12.

  2. Press Windows Logo+R or select Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run.

  The Run window displays.

  3. Type "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter.

  The Add or Remove Programs window displays.

  4. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.

  The Windows Components Wizard displays.

  5. Select Application Server and click Details.

  

  The Application Server window displays.

  6. Select the following and click Details.

  

  The Internet Information Services (IIS) window displays.

  7. Select World Wide Web Service and click Details.

  

  The World Wide Web Service window displays.

  8. Select Active Server Pages and Server Side Includes.

  

  9. Click OK until the Windows Components Wizard displays.

  10. Click Next.

  The Completing the Windows Components Wizard screen displays once the installation finishes.

  11. Click Finish.

  12. Select one of the following options:

  • If you have Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) installed, proceed to Step 13.

  • If you do not have Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) installed, proceed to Step 16.

  13. Press Windows Logo+R or select Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run.

  The Run window displays.

  14. Type "cmd" and press Enter.

  The Command Prompt displays.

  15. Type "%windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe set config -section:system.webServer/httpCompression" and press Enter.

  16. Restart the computer and access Windows with an administrator account.

  17. Click here to proceed with the next step of the setup.

   

• Windows Server 2003 (64-bit)

  1. Select one of the following options:

  • If you do not have the IIS component installed, proceed to Step 2.

  • If you have the IIS component installed, proceed to Step 12.

  2. Press Windows Logo+R or select Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run.

  The Run window displays.

  3. Type "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter.

  The Add or Remove Programs window displays.

  4. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.

  The Windows Components Wizard displays.

  5. Select Application Server and click Details.

  

  The Application Server window displays.

  6. Select the following and click Details.

  

  The Internet Information Services (IIS) window displays.

  7. Select World Wide Web Service and click Details.

  

  The World Wide Web Service window displays.

  8. Select Active Server Pages and Server Side Includes.

  

  9. Click OK until the Windows Components Wizard displays.

  10. Click Next.

  The Completing the Windows Components Wizard screen displays once the installation finishes.

  11. Click Finish.

  12. Press Windows Logo+R or select Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run.

  The Run window displays.

  13. Type "cmd" and press Enter.

  The Command Prompt displays.

  14. Type "cscript %SYSTEMDRIVE%\inetpub\adminscripts\adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 1" and press Enter.

  15. Type "%SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i" and press Enter.

  16. Select one of the following options:

  • If you have Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) installed, proceed to Step 17.

  • If you do not have Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) installed, proceed to Step 18.

  17. Type "%windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe set config -section:system.webServer/httpCompression" and press Enter.

  18. Restart the computer and access Windows with an administrator account.

  19. Click here to proceed with the next step of the setup.

   

• Windows Server 2008 (32-bit)

  1. Select one of the following options:

  • If you do not have the IIS component installed, proceed to Step 2.

  • If you have the IIS component installed, proceed to Step 12.

  2. Select Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager.

  The Server Manager displays.

  3. Double-click Roles.

  

  The Roles screen displays.

  4. Click Add Roles (highlighted below).

  

  The Add Roles Wizard displays.

  Tip:  Click Next if the Before You Begin screen displays.

  5. Select Web Server (IIS) and click Next twice.

  

  The Select Role Services screen displays.

  6. Select ASP.NET.

  

  The Add features required for ASP.NET? message displays.

  7. Click Add Required Features.

  8. Select ASP and Server Side Includes.

  

  9. Scroll down to the bottom of the Role Services list and select the following:

  

  10. Click Next and click Install.

  The Installation Results screen displays once the installation finishes.

  11. Click Close.

  12. Select one of the following options:

  • If you have Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) installed, proceed to Step 13.

  • If you do not have Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) installed, proceed to Step 16.

  13. Press Windows Logo+R or select Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run.

  The Run window displays.

  14. Type "cmd" and press Enter.

  The Command Prompt displays.

  15. Type "%windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe set config -section:system.webServer/httpCompression" and press Enter.

  16. Restart the computer and access Windows with an administrator account.

  17. Click here to proceed with the next step of the setup.

   

• Windows Server 2008 / Windows Small Business Server 2008 (64-bit)

  1. Select one of the following options:

  • If you do not have the IIS component installed, proceed to Step 2.

  • If you have the IIS component installed, proceed to Step 12.

  2. Select Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager.

  The Server Manager displays.

  3. Double-click Roles.

  

  The Roles screen displays.

  4. Click Add Roles (highlighted below).

  

  The Add Roles Wizard displays.

  15. Type "%SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i" and press Enter.

  16. Select one of the following options:

  • If you have Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) installed, proceed to Step 17.

  • If you do not have Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) installed, proceed to Step 18.

  17. Type "%windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe set config -section:system.webServer/httpCompression" and press Enter.

  18. Restart the computer and access Windows with an administrator account.

  19. Click here to proceed with the next step of the setup.

   

• Windows Server 2008 R2 / Windows Small Business Server 2011

  1. Select one of the following options:

  • If you do not have the IIS component installed, proceed to Step 2.

  • If you have the IIS component installed, proceed to Step 12.

  2. Select Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager.

  The Server Manager displays.

  3. Double-click Roles.

  

  The Roles screen displays.
